Who Needs Starbucks?

In our effort to make many of our favorites from local restaurants, I have embarked on trying to make my favorite coffee mixes from Starbucks. In reality, I never visit Starbucks unless I have a gift card because I cannot see myself paying $3 or $4 for coffee. BUT, I finally got my favorite drink (peppermint mocha) recreated!
I purchased Peppermint Mocha creamer today from Kroger for only .49 with a coupon.
Instead of using whipped cream in a can or a tub, we are using heavy whipping cream which makes so much more whipped cream than any of the others!
I drizzled chocolate syrup across the top of the whipped cream!

Now every afternoon when I wish I had a Starbucks coffee, I can go in my kitchen and make me one! I think I spent about $3.50 purchasing everything needed. This will make several cups of coffee, cutting my cost from $2.95 per cup to just a few cents per cup!

Home Made Hot Chocolate

My daughter loves homemade hot chocolate. She takes her cup in the kitchen and experiments with different added flavors. After visiting Starbucks the other day with me, she decided to try and make her own “fancy” concoction!
011
Homemade Hot Chocolate
4 Cups Powder Milk
2 Cups White Sugar
3/4 cup Baking Cocoa
Pinch of Salt
Measure it all into a blender and blend it up for about 1 or 2 minutes or until it's mixed really well and a fine powder. This is key because it helps it to blend into the water.
To Prepare: Spoon 1/3 cup of the hot cocoa mix into a cup or mug. Add boiling water to the top, stir and serve.
Kayla’s variations: Kayla added to her cup of hot cocoa a dollop of whipped cream and then sprinkled cocoa powder on top of that. All I can say was WOW! It really made that hot chocolate taste delicious!
